Anatomy of a Successful Grant: How to Get from Here to There

Grants from federal agencies provide substantial funds for R&D, necessary validation of new technologies, and valuable peer-review to enhance experimental efforts. In order to partake of these benefits, companies must become knowledgeable about preparing grants or enlist the help of professional grant writers for greater efficiency and effectiveness. Dr. Schechter will lead you step-by-step through the grant process, introduce each element of the grant, and provide tips for submitting successful grants. Information about each of the following essential components will enable you to prepare winning grants: Cover letter, title, abstract, key words, specific aims, background and significance, qualifications of scientists, preliminary data, experimental design and methods, references, budgets, human welfare, animal welfare, collaborators and consultants, contractual agreements, transition from phase I to phase II, fast-track, continuation proposals, interactions with NIH, and more.
