Biographical Sketch

Dr. Petersen was co-founder of two successful companies, NovaSensor and Transensory Devices Inc. (TDI), where he served as Vice President of technology. While at NovaSensor and TDI, he was responsible for commercializing many innovative micromachined devices and fundamental fabrication processes. He holds 20 patents in the field and is author of over 80 papers and presentations. His 1982 IEEE Proceedings review paper, "Silicon as a Mechanical Material," is still the most widely referenced paper in the field of micromachining.
