A positive corporate culture is critical to the growth of new companies. A panel of distinguished leaders in the industry will address the following points:

Cammy Deluca-Flaherty, Director of Research Operations, Exelixis, Inc.

Camille DeLuca-Flaherty, Ph.D., is Director of Research Operations for
Exelixis, Inc., responsible for coordination, reporting and
organizational development of R&D programs, resources, budget and
corporate services/administration interfaces. Dr. DeLuca-Flaherty
joined Exelixis in 1998 as Program Manager for the Exelixis-Bayer AG
partnership. Dr. DeLuca-Flaherty was previously Senior Research
Scientist/Group Leader at Affymax Research Institute. Prior to
joining Affymax she was at Sandoz Crop Protection, Inc, progressing
from Research Scientist to Senior Scientist and Project
Leader. Dr. DeLuca-Flaherty received her Ph. D. from the University of
Colorado and was a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Dr. David
McKay of Stanford University.

Jennie P. Mather, Ph.D
Founder and CEO,
Raven Biotechnologies, Inc.

Dr. Mather has over thirty years of experience in cell biology
research and development. She obtained her PhD, and did postdoctoral
work, at the UC San Diego. After a year as an NIH/INSERM Exchange
Scientist in Lyon, France, Dr. Mather joined the faculty of The
Rockefeller University. In 1984, she joined Genentech, as a Senior
Scientist in Process Sciences and was promoted to Staff Scientist in
1988. She was involved in designing cell culture production processes
for 4 currently marketed products, including Herceptin and Activase.
In 1994, she and her group joined the Research division of Genentech
where, as a Research Staff Scientist, she initiated discovery research
projects in the areas of neurobiology, endocrinology, and oncology and
contributed to a genomics screening effort. While at Genentech,
Dr. Mather was a member of more than 12 project teams. This has given
her exposure to most aspects of biotechnology product development,
from the initial assessment of ideas, to forming and leading a team
through the research, and early development phases of a new drug.
In Jan 1999, Dr. Mather left Genentech to found Raven Biotechnologies,
Inc. a company whose mission is the rapid and focused simultaneous
discovery of cancer drug targets and therapeutic monoclonal antibodies
using an integrated cell-based approach to drug discovery. Dr. Mather
has been named inventor on more than 25 patents and has authored or
edited 5 books, including Introduction to Cell and Tissue Culture, and
more than 150 publications. Dr. Mather also serves on the Scientific
Advisory Boards of Guava Technologies and CellStat Technologies.
As Founder, President and CEO, she has raised $23 million in equity
investment and grown Raven biotechnologies from its inception to its
current size of 48 people. Raven currently has more than 40
antibodies for the treatment of cancer in the pipeline. In 2001, Dr
Mather became a member of the Emerging Companies Section Governing
Body of the Biotechnology Industry Organization. In 2002, Dr. Mather
was named one of the top 10 Innovators by Red Herring Magazine.

Andrew J. Perlman, M.D., Ph.D.
Chief Executive Officer, Affymax, Inc.

Dr. Perlman joined Affymax as Chief Executive Officer from
Tularik, Inc., where he most recently served as Executive Vice
President. Over the last decade, he has been instrumental in Tularik's
evolution to a mature drug discovery and development company with
multiple products in the clinic. He also played a major role in
preparing the company for its successful public offerings in 1999 and
2000. Dr. Perlman's previous positions at Tularik were as Vice
President of Medical Research and Corporate Development. Before
joining Tularik, Dr. Perlman spent five years in several senior
clinical development positions at Genentech, Inc. where he was
responsible for designing, implementing and analyzing clinical trials
and filing New Drug Applications (NDAs) for U.S. Food and Drug
Administration marketing approval. He was also responsible for
Genentech's patient registry known as the National Cooperative Growth
Study.
Earlier in his career, Dr. Perlman was a faculty member in the
Department of Medicine at Stanford University where he conducted
research on the genetic regulation of blood pressure and authored many
scientific articles and chapters in medical texts.
Dr. Perlman is a member of the Board of Directors of SangStat Medical
Corporation. He received his M.D. and Ph.D. from New York University
in 1975.
