Lilly Ventures currently has three funds under management.
Lilly BioVenture Fund a $75 million fund that targets investments in biotechnology companies with pioneering drug discovery and development technologies and novel therapies.
Lilly MedTech Venture Fund, a $50 million fund that targets investments in companies with novel diagnostic technologies and therapeutic devices, and combination products incorporating pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and/or diagnostics.
e.Lilly Venture Fund that targets investments in start-up companies with innovative network technologies that promise to have a transformational impact on the current pharmaceutical business model.

Ed Torres has led the investments in Conforma Therapeutics Corporation, Fluidigm Corporation, and Serenex, Inc. Currently, Mr. Torres is a board observer on Conforma Therapeutics and Serenex. Mr. Torres joined Eli Lilly and Company in 1989 and has had a diverse set of experiences throughout the domestic and international pharmaceutical businesses including operational finance, planning, M&A, business development and global sales and marketing roles. As the founding CFO of Lilly Argentina, Mr. Torres was part of the management team that built a successful and profitable business there. He received a bachelors of arts from Creighton University and a master of business administration from the University of Michigan Business School, where he was a Consortium Fellow.

Graeme Martin, VP Technology Assessment, Takeda Research Institute

Takeda Research Investment Inc. (TRI) presently manages a fund of
US$100 million, targeting investments in early stage ventures from
seed through Series B financing. The aim of this corporate venture
fund is to nurture biopharmaceutical innovation and provide Takeda
with insights that we anticipate will provide competitive advantage in
the future. Investments are therefore strategic rather than fiscal in
nature, focused on proven management teams developing technologies or
therapeutic discoveries that offer the promise of new, innovative
medicines in oncology, cardiovascular disease, CNS and metabolic
diseases. Devices, diagnostics, gene therapy and anti-infectives are
outside of TRIs present focus.
Prior to joining TRI in April 2003, Graeme Martin providing
independent consulting services to Pharma R&D and the investment
community in the USA and Europe. His experience in biopharmaceutical
R&D spans more than 26 years, starting with Burroughs Wellcome and
then GlaxoWellcome in the United Kingdom, followed by Roche Bioscience
and Telik here in the Bay Area. He has had the privilege of leading
the discovery and early clinical development of several NCEs, most
notably Zomig® now marketed worldwide for the acute treatment of
migraine. Graeme was trained in pharmacology, obtaining his first
degree from the University of Bath in the UK, and his Ph.D. from
University College, London.

Mark Strobeck, Senior Associate, S. R. One, Limited

Previously, Dr. Strobeck was at EuclidSR Partners, the joint venture
fund created by Euclid Partners and S.R. One, Limited. During his time
there, he was involved in making investments in biopharmaceutical,
pharmaceutical and drug discovery tools companies for the EuclidSR I
fund. While at Euclid, he was responsible for deal origination and
evaluation, technical and financial analysis and served as a Board
Observer to Fluidigm Corp. and KuDOS Pharmaceuticals. Mark earned a
Ph.D. Pharmacology and Biophysics from the University of
Cincinnati. He has 8 years of pharmaceutical and research operations
experience. He joined EuclidSR Partners from the Division of
Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Mark is
currently a Director of Protein Forest and serves as a Board Observer
of Conforma Therapeutics, Rib-X Pharmaceuticals, Inc, Santarus, Inc
and Scion Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
