Dr. Plunkett joined CIBC World Markets in December 2000. His experience includes over 40 completed biopharmaceutical transactions, including IPOs, follow-on offerings, convertible debt, private placements and M&A and financial advisory assignments. Previously he worked at Sunesis Pharmaceuticals and at Axys Advanced Technologies. He received a BS (Honors) in Chemistry, with a History concentration, from Harvey Mudd College, and a Ph.D in Organic Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley.
Anthony DiTonno joined NeurogesX in April 2003 as President and Chief
Executive Officer. From 2000 to 2002, he was Executive Vice President
of Sales and Marketing for Enteric Medical Technologies, Inc., a
medical device company and developer of Enteryx(R) for the treatment
of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Enteric was sold to Boston
Scientific Corporation. Prior to Enteric, Anthony was CEO of LifeSleep
Systems, Inc., a medical device company focused on developing products
to treat mild obstructive sleep apnea and snoring. From 1989 until
1997, Anthony was Vice President and General Manager of Oclassen
Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a specialty pharmaceutical company focused in
dermatology. Oclassen was sold to Watson Pharmaceuticals. He also held
the position of Vice President of Sales and Marketing at
Oclassen. Anthony has also held various sales and marketing positions
at Rorer Pharmaceuticals (Aventis) and Wyeth Laboratories. Anthony
earned a BS in business administration from St. Josephs University and
an MBA from Drexel University, both in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Mike ODonnell has been providing general corporate representation to biopharmaceutical and other life sciences companies for more than 20 years, and offers particular expertise in venture capital financings, public offerings, technology licensing, and corporate partnering transactions. He has represented several public biopharmaceutical clients, including Argonaut Technologies, Ciphergen Biosystems, Cytokinetics, Inc., Illumina, Microcide Pharmaceuticals, Neurocrine Biosciences, Pain Therapeutics, Pharmacopeia, and Sequana Therapeutics, as well as numerous private biopharmaceutical, medical device, and instrumentation companies. Mike was responsible for structuring the spin-off and initial funding of X-Ceptor from Ligand Pharmaceuticals, Onyx Pharmaceuticals from Chiron/CETUS, and Tularik from Genentech. Mike has published several articles and has been invited to speak on corporate strategic alliances and creative financing techniques for biotechnology companies. He received his law degree, cum laude, from Harvard Law School and his undergraduate degree, summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from Bucknell University.
Matthew Perry is a Portfolio Manager of the Biotechnology Value Fund,
L.P. (BVF), a San Francisco-based, private investment partnership
focused on the biotechnology industry with assets of approximately
$600m. Prior to joining BVF in 1996, Mr. Perry was an account executive
with Feinstein Partners; a consulting firm with an emphasis on investor
relations for emerging health care companies focused on the discovery,
development and commercialization of therapeutics. He was
simultaneously an account executive with FPI's affiliate, Kendall
Strategies, a business development and strategy consulting firm
assisting start-up through large, public biotechnology companies. Mr.
Perry is also a co-founder and Director of Nordic Biotech, a
European-based venture capital fund. He holds a B.S. degree from the
College of William and Mary.
